Mixed Opens
Despite the wonderful British weather this past week has seen plenty of guests at the Club in the form the Seniors and Mixed Opens. Thursday was the turn of the Seniors with 35 heading out for a stableford contest, the course looked great but most our guests struggled a little with our legendary greens. So after a fantastic carvery lunch from Sean The Chef the presentation was made to Mr Nigel Harris of Hampton Court Palace with an outstanding 40 points.
On Saturday we hosted the Mixed Open with 18 pairs in attendance, it was also great to see a few members playing with friends and family from other Clubs.
The Sun was shining and spirits were high as they all headed to play four ball better ball and as the scores slowly came in it was looking like 37 was going to be the winning score with a two couples tied for the lead but then out of last group came a fantastic 40 points by Gary and Jane Edgar.
Again a lovely day topped off with another fine meal.
I think it is a mark of how welcoming and friendly we are here at Epsom by both the emails I've received and the golfers coming up to me saying what a lovely day they had had and how friendly the members and staff are. So a couple of great days but always remember as a member you are always allowed to play in any of these events. I'll let you know again closer to next year.
Sunday Lunch this weekend

Take the Heaven Wood Challenge!!
After the huge success of the return of the Callaway Heaven Wood I would like challenge all our members to come and try the wonder club against your own existing 3 and 5 woods.
The secret of the Heaven Woods success is simply that the head has the loft of a 7 wood with the shaft the length of a 4 wood, giving you the height and control from the loft and carry and distance from the length of the shaft.
Traditionally fairway woods are the most difficult club in the bag to hit but the Heaven Wood changes all that.
So my challenge is to you, is to book a session in the simulator and see if I can improve your numbers in carry, distance and control. Plus as a little incentive, everyone who tries out the Heaven Wood receives a free sleeve of Callaway balls.
Call the Pro shop on 01372 741867 to book your 'Heaven Wood Challenge'.

Grip up for Winter and win!!!!!
With the wet Winter fast approaching now is the time to have an inspection of the grips on your Clubs. If the grips are either starting to appear to have a slight shine on them or have gone hard then the reaction is that you then must grip the Club tighter to feel that you have control. Now we all know that throttling a golf club is not the way forward and that a light grip pressure gives more feel and opportunity to use your hands more effectively. If you head into the Pro Shop and look right as you come in you will see our 'Grip Bar' that offers a selection of different styles and a measuring system to make sure that you have the right size in your hands. Prices are discounted for five or more grips and all that have five plus will be entered into a draw to win a Club sweater and matching shirt. Sets came be done overnight, so please head to the pro shop to drop off your Clubs ready for the Winter.

We can then work towards these goals through the following programme.
Coaching Programme:

Session two: Range work focusing on set up and fault fixing from session one.
Session three: Repeat of session two
Session four: Short game - to include pitching, chipping and distance control.
Session five: Long game - Driving distance, accuracy and fairway woods.
