Congratulations!
I want to take this opportunity to announce some great news from the pro shop, I am happy to say that my Head Assistant Dave Bright has landed the Head Professional role at The Bristol Golf Club.
I am of course sad to see Dave go but at the same time I am very proud of him and wish him all the very best in his new role and the next chapter of his life. His wife Abby is from Bristol and so they will now have family around them to help them raise their lovely little boy Luke. Dave has done a wonderful job for me and the golf club over the last five years, especially in recent times raising the level of junior coaching at the club. I will of course look to replace him with another fully qualified PGA professional to continue to build on the great work Dave has done with junior golf. I'm sure all at the club will wish Dave and his family all the best wishes when he leaves us at the end of July.
Ladies Club Championship
As I sit here now the ladies are currently out playing the first round of their Club Championship, the sun is shining and the course is in great condition, so scores should be good! Next week I'll have a write up on that and hopefully some pictures for the newsletter.
Results
Sunday just gone we had a joint competition with the July Medal running at the same time as the Masters Trophy. Once again course conditions favoured the good scores and we weren't let down by this. Division One was won by Phil Baker with a nett 66, Division Two was won by Charlie Loftus with a nett 68 and Division Three was won by Roy Jones with a fantastic nett 65.
The Masters Trophy, which is open to all male members that have won a competition, or medal division in the previous year, was won by Phil Baker with his nett 66.
Pro Shop Scramble
This weekend we have a Pro Shop Scramble that's open to all full members of the club. Currently we have 18 teams, but there is always room for more, so click here to let us know if you'd like to play. We are also letting teams bring along a guest, so if you'd like to bring someone down to enjoy the course at it's best, please do. Format for the day is buffet breakfast at 7.30am, shot gun start at 9am, with presentations to follow. Cost for the team of four is £50 which includes breakfast.
Summer League
Next Friday see's the return of the summer league after a two week break, we are looking at a new format, maybe an extra hole and we have a traditional pie and mash dinner for you (with alternatives if it's not for you). The sheet is filling up nicely, so if you haven't played before, why not get three people together and sign up.

Junior Club Championship
Last Sunday afternoon also saw the Junior Club Championship take place, unlike the ladies and the gents, there's is just 18 holes. We are trying our hardest to get the numbers up for junior competitions at the moment, so it wasn't the largest field we've had, however, you can only beat what's in front of you! In the scratch competition it was no surprise that our lowest handicapped player, Ben Partridge, took the honours with a very steady 76. In the handicap competition, Ben's nett 69 wasn't enough to give him a double victory, as Patrick Murray stole the show with his impressive nett 67, playing off 19. Well done to both boys and great to see them all out playing.
