Find the fairway every time
Now doesn't that sound nice! Prior to the Irish Open one commentator remarked: "Anyone who's not driving the ball well this week can forget about winning." How true. On some courses you may be able to get away with it but not at Royal County Down, especially when it's wet and windy.
Yes, holing putts is important and being able to drive the ball a mile will help, but isn't the game a lot easier when you're playing the game from the fairways?
Our advice is to try and not to let a narrow fairway faze you. So you commit fully to the shot, pick a spot in front of your ball that sits directly on your line. You should aim to force the head of your club over this spot after impact to ensure that you release it powerfully towards the target.

Do you know the importance of a gapping session?
As most of you will know, I have recently invested in the state of the art GC2 Launch Monitor & Simulation system, which has been proved the most accurate launch monitor on the market today.
One thing that this device can do is let you know how far you hit each club. Now, this is one thing that we all seem to think we know, yet in reality don't properly know.
With this simulator, you can now book yourself in to a gapping session, where we can truly assess how far you hit each club. It will be surprising to you that in a lot of cases, you are hitting two irons the same distance, or you have a big gap inbetween your wedges and need something inbetween to help you out!
Whatever you may be struggling with, I can't emphasise enough how important this can be to helping you this year
Click here to book a gapping session now and take advantage of this fantastic technology.
Just a final note to say that the course will be closed over the weekend as many of you will know Espom are hosting their Derby Weekend which causes major disruption to the club.
