Santa’s Grotto & Carol Singing Thursday, 19 December This is always a cracking night at The Club with it packed to the rafters. We kick with Santa Clause paying a special visit to The Club, handing out Christmas presents to all the members children and Grandchildren in his grotto. Food is available for all throughout the evening (details on the poster inn the entrance hall) and then the Carol Service takes place with the mulled wine flowing. So rally up the friends and family and enjoy a terrific evening at The Club. |
Pro Shop ‘Mystery’ Team Stableford Sunday, 29 December This event is open to all Full and Flexible members who want to walk off the excesses from the previous week. It’s a 4 person Stableford team competition with the ‘mystery’ being that you won’t find it if it’s best 1, 2, 3 or all 4 players points to count on that hole until you reach the green.
Sign-up sheet is on the Men’s Competition Board - £20 per team

New Year’s Eve Party Tuesday, 31 December
This is a Black-Tie event, so dust off the tuxedos chaps and head up to The Club with friends and family to bring in the New Year. We have a very special guest performer this year after the huge success of her previous appearances at The Club, Past Ladies Captain and performing superstar, Julie Burgess will have you dancing in the New Year. We have a luxury three-course meal and the wine will be flowing. All for just £50 per head. Tables are filling up fast so please call the office to book or add your names to the list in the Entrance Hall. |
Winter League
Last week, we saw the chaps head out in Round 3 of the Men’s Winter League Series, all trying to hunt down O’Brien and Crockford who won both the first two opening rounds. The format was Pairs Texas Scramble, a tad slow I’m sure the gents won’t mind me saying. At one point, I was worried we'd be doing the presentation in the dark! It was tight at the top as it usually is with Jones and Stapley in runners up spot with 58.4 but it was the pairing of Lewis Ede and Club Champ Gerard Harrington who took the spoils with a cracking -13, 57.
|
|
This week, after a bit of a fog delay, we managed to get the chaps out finally, albeit, switching it to a shotgun start. The format this week was the very tricky ‘Aggregate Medal’ with every single shot counting! |
The scores were mightily impressive under such a pressured format and it was a fantastic score of – 9 (131) by the pairing of Paul Hamilton and Joe O’Connor who took the victory. But a mention must also go to the runners up Richard Foot and Steve Moore with 133 and third place Cam Morris and Dave Tarbet with 137, both normally potential winning scores but not this time. The overall series leaders are Dec O’Brien and Adam Crockford who have expanded their lead to 29 points over second spot Foot and Moore with Tarbet and Morris hot on their heels in third. However, still, plenty of rounds to play for the rest to reel them in…just look at Liverpool last season!

|
Having made the decision to switch to a shotgun start on Sunday, it was very well received by all. It allows us to get everyone out and back in at the same time but probably, more importantly, it allows play to flow and improve the pace of play for all, therefore we will trial the next two winter leagues as shotgun starts. Feedback is very welcome. |
