Goodbye laces. Hello Boa

Technology in today's golf equipment continues to amaze us year-on-year, but it's not just our clubs that are making strides in the tech department.

NEW IN - Under Armour Autumn/Winter collection

The first part of our Autumn/Winter Under Armour collection arrived yesterday with more boxes coming through the door. It’s another cracking collection as one of my lessons proved yesterday as he actually bought a jacket, mid-layer and pair of trousers out of the boxes before we could even get them out on display.

Pop in and get layered up for the colder weather as you know its coming.

Pro Shop ‘Cross Country’ Competition
Sunday, 29 September

We didn’t manage to quite get the numbers to justify the event a few weeks ago so we have moved it to Sunday, 29 September instead of a Pro Shop competition. We have also laid on a buffet breakfast beforehand and as it’s my birthday I’ll be laying on some bubbles with breakfast. You can also invite a guest on us.

Although some of you may already play the course this way unintentionally, we have devised a 9 hole ‘Cross Country’ course around the Downs. For example, the 1st tee to second green Par 5 and the mighty 16th tee to 18th Green Par 6. The map of the course is on The Men’s Competition Board if you would like to see the other holes. It’s a fourball Texas Scramble event and we have laid on a lovely Curry with all the trimmings after play. Golf, food and prizes - £50 per team and open to ALL members (inc Flexi)

Cover story

This might sound a little complicated but just give us a chance on this one...

Urethane vs Ionomer? Both are materials used on the cover of golf balls but what is the difference between them and how does each affect your game?

TaylorMade TP5 - Urethane cover

You'll usually find that balls at the premium end of the market, like the TP5 and TP5x, have Urethane covers due to its noticeably softer feel and fantastic feedback, which is why they're the go-to choice for many Tour pros.

TaylorMade Project (s) - Ionomer cover

On the other hand, Ionomer is cheaper to produce which is why you'll find them on less expensive balls, like the Project (s). These balls tend to spin less off the tee, which is why Ionomer features on balls that prioritise distance over feel.

A warmer option

As we begin the inevitable slide to Christmas (yes, I said it), it's time to ditch the shorts for some warmer layers. Fortunately, we have a range of mid-layers and jackets available through us that will keep you warm and dry whilst successfully battling the elements this winter.
