An important weekend coming up at the club... Starting on Friday, 16 March we have one of the busiest and most important weekends in the club's diary. Friday night is the Men’s Club Supper, a black tie event and a great send off for our out-going Captain, David Barnett. We have a fine three course meal followed by speeches from our members and guests and traditionally the odd drop of wine may be savoured, but is always a great night.
Saturday early evening the club will be hosting the Annual AGM and this is an opportunity to hear how the club is doing, learn of future plans and enjoy seeing the NEW Ladies and Gent's Captain’s being voted in. There are always some serious matters that need voting on, your vote and your opinion is very important to us so please attend. The following day the men head out in the morning to play in The Garrett Cup, which I think we can safely say is one of the Majors and a beautiful trophy. This is then followed by ‘The Driving-in’ of the two new Captains. Tradition dictates that the old Captain’s putts out on the 18th green hands the ball to the in-coming Captain, who then proceeds to (hopefully) blast it back up the 18th. This normally takes place in front of 150 or more so can be a little nervy at times. So even if you’re not playing in the morning, please pop up for a drink and cheer in the new Captains and what better way to round of a cracking weekend than a lovely Sunday lunch upstairs. The booking sheet will be up on the entertainments board if you would like to invite friends and family up to experience Epsom’s fantastic atmosphere and a beautiful Sunday roast.
