Men's Winter League Round 2
This week's Men's Winter League Round 2 format was the ever popular 4 ball-better-ball stableford and once the fog finally lifted, out went all 80 golfers. The scores were very impressive despite the gloomy conditions with Howard Jones and Adam Stapley being forced into third on a countback with 45 points by runners up Gary Debrou and Chris Wood. But out in front were the winners, Tony Tagg and Dave Jones with a very impressive 47 points.
Unfortunately they couldn't stick around for the presentation so have missed out on their picture being published, so instead is a lovely picture of the Winter League trophy they're all playing for. After the first two rounds the narrow leaders are Howard Jones and Adam Stapley with the vastly experienced pairing of Mick Peddie and Phil Baker hot on their heels.
Update
We have some work being carried out on the golf course later this month. Firstly, on Monday, 21 November the green staff will be verti-draining the greens. This is a process to aerate the putting surfaces and help improve the root structure going forwards, the work should take no more than two days.
Secondly, as part of our Winter Programme, we will be starting work on levelling and re-turfing the 2nd, 10th, 14th and 16th tee boxes. These new flatter tee boxes will be ready for play in the New Year.
Winter Coaching Package
With the temperatures dropping and winter on its way, now is the time to think about working on the swing ready for next year's season. So with that in mind I have put together a special Winter Coaching Programme to help improve your game.
Coffee and consultation - we will sit down and work out where your game is now, what your goals are and set a diary of coaching going forwards.
6 x 30 minute sessions - These include:
Session 1: Video work to establish faults and make them clear to you and how we intend to put them right.
Session 2: Engraining work done in first session, fault fixing and creating new improved habits.
Session 3: Taking new and improved techniques and creating more consistency and power, as gaining and understanding of 'how a good golf swing works.'
Session 4: Taking improved techniques and applying them to the long game, starting with hybrids and fairway woods.
Session 5: Driving - Improving power and accuracy
Session 6: Short Game - Pitching and chipping techniques, a must and the quickest way to get those scores down.
Take it to the course - 90 min on course session: It is vital that all newly learnt techniques are possible to be taken to the course, also focusing on course management. With the inclusion of an on course putting session.
