Victorious in local Derby…
Last Saturday the men's section took on local rivals at Cuddington Golf Club, led by Men's Captain Adrian Northeast. It's always a great day whether it be a home or away fixture, but historically the respective home club normally takes home the trophy. 'Normally' that is, but Saturday I am happy to say was an exception and quite an exception it proved to be with Epsom winning by an fine margin of 6 - 2. This was made even sweeter for me as the Captain and I managed to also take their Captain and Pro to the cleaners! It was a fantastic day and the crystal decanter is back in its rightful place… The Epsom trophy cabinet!
Winter League Round One
On Sunday 80 of the men's section headed out to play in Round One of the Winter League, a 10 round event through the winter comprising of several different formats. The first round is always kicked off with St. Andrews Foursomes, which some found a little tricky to get their heads round. However, not the newly formed pairing of Trevor Cowley and John Phillips who carded a staggering nett 62 to take the win. A great round gents! Round Two takes place this coming Sunday. I'll keep you posted.

Take the Simulator Challenge
Are you curious about new technology and how it can benefit you? Well, here is your opportunity to come and try some of the latest Callaway, PING or Yonex equipment and compare performance against your own clubs. Technology moves on very quickly in this game and also in my experience a number of golfers are using equipment that may not actually suit them, from the wrong loft on your driver to a shaft that may be too stiff or heavy for you. Putting the right equipment in your hands can make a massive difference to both distance and accuracy.
So if you are interested or even just curios, please contact me at the shop and we'll book you in for a session and see if we can't improve your stats a little.
After Dark Golf Lessons
This weekend the clocks go back and we are plunged into early darkness, but this doesn't affect your opportunity to work on improving your game. On Wednesdays and Thursdays you can still have golf lessons in The Swing Studio on the GC2 golf simulator.
To book your 'After Dark' lessons please call or email me here.
Winter Rules
After a consultation with Mark, the Head Greenkeeper, we have decided to bring in Winter Rules as of Friday, 28 October. This allows you to mark, clean and move your ball to a 'preferred lie' on certain parts of the golf course under no penalty. These areas are fairways, green surrounds and tee boxes and the ball can only be moved six inches, but no nearer the hole. Winter Rules will be in play until further notice.
