It didn't disappoint
Apart from the comfortable 17-11 score line in the Americans' favour, the 2016 Ryder Cup didn't disappoint. From the USA's Friday morning whitewash to McIlroy and Reed's enthralling ding-dong encounter on Sunday, we were treated throughout the three days.
"I've never seen golf of this quality before"
"We are watching golf you can only dream about"
These were just a couple of plaudits from the commentators during Sunday's play, one of which was from Ryder Cup veteran and 2014 Captain Paul McGinley. The level of golf really was that good. Take Garcia and Mickelson's titanic battle for example; they were a combined 14-under-par for their round - that's a scintillating 58.
Pressure? What pressure?
In what can only be described as a cauldron of emotions, the atmosphere was on the edge all week. Fist-pumps, heckling and shushing aside, the players' ability to produce their best golf in that situation was amazing and is something we can all learn from.
The key to performing under pressure - whether that's the Ryder Cup or in our Monthly Medal - is to have a consistent pre-shot routine. It is probably one of the most overlooked parts of the game, but it really will help to keep you calm and focused no matter the situation.
What's your pre-shot routine?

With the temperatures dropping and winter on it's way, now is the time to think about working on the swing ready for next year. So with that in mind I have put together a special Winter Coaching Programme to help improve your game. Details are as follows:
- Coffee and consultation - We will sit down and work out where your game is now, what your goals are and set a diary of coaching going forwards.
- Six 30 minute sessions including;
Session One - Video work to establish faults and make them clear to you how we intend to put them right.
Session Two - Ingraining work done in first session, fault fixing and creating new improved habits.
Session Three - Taking new and improved techniques and creating more consistency and power, as gaining and understanding of 'how a good golf swing works'.
Session Four - Taking improved techniques and applying them to the long game, starting with hybrids and fairway woods.
Session Five - Driving - improving power and accuracy.
Session Six - Short Game - pitching and chipping techniques, a must and the quickest way to get those scores down.
Take it to the course - A 90 minute on-course session - It is vital that all newly learning techniques are possible to be taken to the course, also focusing on course management. With the inclusion of an on-course putting session.
Gapping session - It is important that the distances you now hit your clubs is clear, so finally a session on the simulator to record club distances.
The cost of package is just £220. If you would like to book this programme, or purchase it as a gift (I can't believe it, but I have to mention Christmas), then please contact me at the pro shop.
