Men' Winter League
I am very happy to announce that after a long, well fought Winter League series, Bill Allison and John Rice are the Champions! Pictured is The Captain and Bill with his arm around an invisible John. Well done to Bill and John who played superbly throughout the nine rounds, winning three and only dropping a mere four points from a maximum 250. They were pushed hard by Mark Bennett and Steve Parsons who eventually finished runners-up and also Trevor Cowley and Malcolm Walker who came storming up the table on a late charge but could only manage fourth place. Other fine performances were from the pairings of Declan O'Brien and Adam Crockford (third) and Richard Halifax and Martin Cooper (fifth). For all the other places please click here or head to the results board in the men's locker room.
We adjusted the formats this year to try and give you as much golf as possible, dropping the Foursome events, and it is on the Competitions and Handicaps agenda to discuss ways of continually improving the event and increasing participation. I will let you know of any improvements after the meeting.
Ladies Medal
Well we certainly had extremes of weather for the Ladies Medal. Saturday was lovely and sunny, however Tuesday was absolutely awful and hats off to the few die-hard ladies who braved it. The overall winner was Nifa Patel who has recently came across from The Academy Section, a fantastic round Nifa just beating Claire Morris on countback with 69.
Course News
Some of the more observant of you may have noticed that I have been out there with my white spray paint on the tee boxes, my plan this season is to square off all the teeing areas. This will give a far cleaner and smarter look and reduce the turning tyre marks at each end of the tee boxes. So once the grass really starts growing you will see a marked improvement in the look, care and attention to our teeing areas.

Cleveland Wedge fitting weekend - Saturday, 2 and Sunday, 3 April
One of the most important areas of the game is your approach play from 100 yards in, so making sure that you have the correctly gapped wedges in your bag is a must. I have just installed the Cleveland wedge fitting system into the Swing Studio which gives you the opportunity to try out the different style heads and all the loft options to make sure can control those yardages. Plus as an added incentive to come and give them a try, I will also be running a nearest the pin competition over the weekend with the winners taking home a Cleveland RTX wedge (loft of your choice).
Click here and contact the pro shop to book a fitting.
