Men's Winter League

Sundays Men's competition saw a return to the keenly fought Winter League series and this week's format was a 'Better Ball Medal'. Managing to edge their noses out in front on the countback was the Scottish double act of Bill Allison and John Rice with an impressive nett 64. This also managed to secure the overall lead in the Winter League after seven rounds with only two more rounds to play. Can they keep themselves out in front?

 

The Captains' Farewell Bash

It's coming to that time of year again to bid a fond farewell to both our Men's and Ladies Captains. So Tony and Diana would like to invite you all to come and play in their 'Farewell Bash' on Thursday, 10 March. It will be teams of 4 and a shotgun start at 9am followed by prizes and a buffet style supper. The competition will be the increasingly popular 'Game of Cards', which is explained on the sign-up sheet. So if you would like to come and enjoy a great day please head to the entertainment's board in the Clubhouse and add your names. The event will cost £5 for golf only and £12.50 for golf and supper.

Mother's Day - Sunday, 5 March

Now what better way to treat your mothers on Mother's Day than a lovely lunch at the golf club? Sean has put on one of his fantastic Sunday Carverys so why not book a table for the family and you can also sneak in a round of golf in the morning. Carverys will cost £18.50 per head with all mothers receiving a gift from the club. So as I know that we all need to be back for either lunch at the club or at home on this special day, I have put on a pairs betterball stableford, but it will be a shotgun start at 8.15am so we should have golf and presentation all done by 1pm. It's a 'Pro Shop Competition' so is open to all members and it's great to see a few ladies have entered already. If you would like to play or need me to organise you a partner, please contact me or add you names to the list on the competitions board.

 

Cleveland Wedges

I have mentioned before about our NEW Cleveland wedge fitting system, but I would like to offer you all the chance to come down to the club and get fitted or simply try out some of the NEW wedges we have on offer. It is what some consider the 'business end' of the game and often overlooked but making sure that you have the right wedges in your bag is paramount to reducing your scores. Whether you need a gap wedge, a new sand wedge or even a lob wedge, we can have look at what's in your bag currently and fit you for what is missing. You can book a slot at any time over the weekend of Saturday, 12 March and Sunday, 13 March for a fitting plus I am running a nearest the pin on the simulator competition over the weekend to win a Cleveland wedge of your choice.
