Competition news

February Stableford

Sunday's February Stableford was played in some very challenging conditions which were reflected by generally low scoring. However, a few managed to battle through the elements and record some fantastic scores. Division One was won by new member Ross Shepperd carding a very impressive 38 points (also the man to see if you need help with your tennis). Division Two was headed up by Jesus Nieto who scored an equally impressive total of 38 points. But the highest score of the day was carded by Division Three winner Don McCulloch, discovering some of his Club Championship winning form, with a superb 40 points earning him a handicap cut to 19. Some great rounds gentleman in tough conditions.

Mid-week Qualifier

Congratulations to Henry Hewlitt who returned a very good 39 points to narrowly beat John Chard on the countback in the Mid-Week Qualifier. It must have been those new Cleveland wedges John has had out of the shop. Our Cleveland wedge custom-fitting system has just arrived in store with many demo clubs to take to the course.

Winter League

The Men's Winter League still has some spots available if you would like to play this coming Sunday, call the shop and we can try and find a partner for you if required.

Course news

"Adopt a green"

I would like to tell you about an idea from the Course Committee called 'Adopt a green'. It basically divides the members by alphabetical order into groups and then they are given a green to look after through repairing pitch marks. Please look out in your inboxes for a separate email explaining it further and giving you the details of the green you are personally to take pride in. As you can see, as promised, there is a complimentary pitch mark repairer waiting for you outside my shop. Please grab one and keep repairing those pitch marks.

Chef
Restaurant News

I'm sure you may have all lost a bit of weight over the last 10 days with the kitchen at the club going under a full refurbishment, but I am happy to say that we are now fully open again with a very happy chef. Sean has also launched a NEW bar menu with some very tasty looking additions; personally I can't wait to try the new fish finger sandwich!

Fitting day

Callaway Fitting Day - Wednesday, 24 February

The slots are filling up fast, but I still have a couple of spaces left, so if you would like to try any of the latest Callaway product please let me know. A few members couldn't wait for the day to get their hands on the latest XR irons with three sets heading out of the door this week already. I have all the custom-fitting kit here already if you would like to book in the meantime or cannot make the 24th. (Spaces remaining: 3.30pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6.30pm)

Shop news

Are you ready for the season ahead?

Many of you are starting to take advantage of my FREE 20 minute swing check but if you have not yet booked in please call or email the shop and secure your time. I just want to give you a coaching example of one of our members. Simon Jones, a relatively new member, came to me at the back end of last year with a couple of issues with his game so we sat down and had a chat about where he wanted to go with his game and we set him some goals, with the biggest one reaching single figures from his then handicap of 13. We put him on a winter programme and through a few swing changes and some regular practice, we have managed to reduce his handicap in just three months down to 10. Admittedly we are not quite there yet but the way he is now swinging I feel it is only a matter of time.

So if you feel you just want a little help with something simple or you are looking for a more thorough programme then please use your FREE 20 minute session to have a chat with me about where you would like us to take your game.

We need your old clubs!

I'm sure if you have a look in your garages, sheds, lofts and cupboards you will discover many unwanted old clubs gathering dust. So I am now offering you the chance to drop them into the pro shop and receive credit for them. Whether you're looking to put them against a new set or you want to simply leave the credit on your account for the future, drop in what you don't want and we'll turn them into something you do want.
