Message from the Head Greenkeeper
Happy New Year to you all, I hope you all had a good festive season. The summer was not the greatest weather to say the least, and in all honesty apart from the last few weeks with the heavy rain it's been an exceptional winter so far with well above average temperatures. Just for the record we've had just over 2 inches of rain in the last 5 days in new money that's about 51mm. Spare a thought though parts of Scotland have had over 200mm of rain this year alone.
This leads me on nicely to trolleys, although there is no ban on them at the moment, conditions over the last few days have really pushed the golf course to the limit, those with ride on buggies wherever possible please keep to the rough and think about where you go with them.
I do suggest that prior to play you give the pro shop a call, just to make sure that we haven't put a ban on them. Next week you will see the greenstaff staring to work on the area surrounding the rear of the 9th green. This area has been prone to regular flooding for years now and is taking its toll on the quality of the putting surface itself. So to alleviate the problem we are removing the mound at the rear of the green which will allow the access water to drain away, the boys will then turf the entire area and of course this will be ground under repair for the foreseeable future.
Bring on 2016!
We don't wish to start the year on a negative, but let's face it, the weather isn't looking too great is it?!
With this in mind, we know many of you have taken to the range to work on your game. If you are doing so, rather than taking a bucket of balls and swinging away aimlessly, give yourself a goal. It takes no time at all to crack your way through 30 or 60 balls, but what are you hoping to achieve by the end of it? Too many amateur golfers make this common mistake.
We have some ways of helping you to improve your range time. Come and speak to the team because we can identify areas of your game where you can improve and offer drills to help you get there. Not only will goals help you focus more on what you're trying to achieve, but it will make hitting balls a touch more rewarding as well.

January Medal
Those of you who played we must congratulate you, what a day we had!!! With a little over a half of the field completing their rounds and Stuart helping clear the water off the remaining 3 greens to help those that did complete we can safely say it was a wash out.
Hopefully this weekend will be a little drier…..
