Hello golfers,

This is the last of my emails for this year so I would like to start by taking the opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I would also like to thank you for your support from us in the pro shop, I appreciate that the online option is easy but I would like to think that the personal touch and follow up service that we pride ourselves on is well worth the trip down to the club. Installing the GC2 indoor simulator this year has now given us an up-to-date custom fitting facility which I know a great deal of you have taken advantage of. We will also be adding more options in the New Year with PING and Cleveland wedge fitting systems arriving well as the Callaway, Yonex and Odyssey systems that we already have.

On the whole I feel that 2015 has been a good year for our club, we have new members which are coming thick and fast, we have work being under taken on a new start to the golf course and we now have a fantastic Chef. All of these factors are important to the development of the club and most importantly maintaining the best golf club we can for you, the member. 2016 is also shaping up to be another great year at the club so I wish you all the very best and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Competition news

Turkey Trot

WinnersWe had another great 'Turkey Trot' weekend this week with more participants than I've ever seen in my seven years here at the club. All of us in the shop were fortunate enough to be selected for the President's team but we could only managed a humble 12th position, however we did have a very entertaining round, which may have been something to do with the continual popping of Prosecco bottles. But coming out on-top was the very carefully selected female team lead by Martin Cooper. Martin clearly recognises rising talent when he sees it by selecting the team of Julie Burgess, Deena Shah and Geraldine Scanlan. Well played ladies and well lead Martin with a great score of 17.5 under.

Course news

1st teeImprovements at Epsom...

Well apart from the rumour that daffodils have been flowering due to the unbelievable temperatures, the 1st tee project is coming along very nicely with the turfing of the extended tee box being completed this week. Work will now start again in the New Year on the path and the final clearing of scrub to the left of the ladies tee box.

I hope you'll agree that as you can see it will make a great start to the course.
